Duralac Green is a chromate-free anti-corrosion jointing compound formulated to prevent galvanic (electrolytic) corrosion between dissimilar metals in contact. It creates a protective barrier at the interface, reducing anodic degradation and extending the service life of fastenings and metal assemblies in demanding environments.
This is a single-component, ready-to-use, air-drying product supplied as a fluid paste based on an elastic synthetic resin with anti-corrosive pigments. It provides excellent adhesion to most substrates and features low water absorption, high resistance to wash-off and very low solubility, making it highly effective in aggressive and humid conditions.
Duralac Green is particularly suitable for sealing joints between different metals, including aluminium, magnesium and their alloys, as well as for interfaces between metal and non-metallic materials such as wood, rubber, leather, fabrics or synthetic resin composites. It can also be used on similar metals where differences in electrolyte concentration or stress may promote corrosion.
It is widely used in marine, construction, general engineering, automotive and aerospace applications. Typical uses include masts, winches, antennas, battery terminals, bolts, screws and rivets, as well as structural assemblies where contact between dissimilar materials cannot be avoided. In marine or coastal environments, it helps protect joints from accelerated corrosion caused by salinity.
For application, the product should be used directly without thinning, preferably applied by brush onto clean and dry surfaces. After application, the solvent evaporates and the compound becomes touch-dry, although it remains tacky for a period. For optimal sealing performance, the joint should be assembled while the product is still tacky to ensure proper flow and gap filling.
Duralac Green complies with specification DTD 369B and has an approximate shelf life of 2 years from the date of supply when stored below 20 °C. Once opened, the remaining product may form a surface skin.
