Plastimo SX-400 handheld VHF radio

The Plastimo SX-400 is a portable, floating, and waterproof handheld VHF radio designed for secure communications in coastal navigation, auxiliary boats, and nautical activities. This version is optimized for Europe and also meets regulatory requirements for use in the United States and Canada.

It offers a transmission power of 5 W and operates in the frequency range of 156 to 163.425 MHz, providing suitable performance in transmission and reception for recreational and semi-professional use. The 1750 mAh lithium-ion battery provides up to 12 hours of autonomy, under an estimated usage of 5% in transmission, 5% in reception, and 90% in standby.

It features Dual Watch and Tri Watch functions, direct access to channel 16, a programmable favorite channel, and ATIS mode for inland navigation. It includes reception of weather information, a functionality available only in the USA.

It is designed for real-world use in a marine environment: it floats, incorporates a flashing light, integrated flashlight, audible alarm when submerged, and an automatic speaker water drainage system when removed from the water. The backlit LCD screen and illuminated buttons facilitate operation in low-light conditions. Charging is done via USB, with 12 V and 220 V adapters.
